Obi’s Record As Anambra Governor Often Overstated – Presidency

The Presidency has faulted what it described as the exaggerated portrayal of the record of former Anambra State Governor and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, saying his performance in office has often been overstated. Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga made the remarks in a post on his X handle while responding to the ongoing controversy over Obi's record as governor of Anambra State. Onanuga said Obi had challenged the Anambra State Government to verify his claims regarding the debt he left behind, but argued that the former governor and his supporters had yet to directly address the evidence presented by the state government. He wrote that now that the government has responded, the former presidential candidate and his supporters are struggling for an answer and cannot address the evidence directly.
