Civil society organisations, youths, students, and market women protested at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, demanding that the Federal Government reduce borrowing and allocate more resources to critical sectors. The protesters, under the aegis of Climate Action, warned against the rising debt burden, stating that debt servicing was crowding out funding for essential public services and undermining efforts to tackle climate change, poverty, and unemployment. They urged the government to stop accumulating more loans from the World Bank, IMF, and other development finance institutions, and called for greater transparency in debt management.
