Guinea's media regulator, the High Authority for Communication (HAC), banned France 24 from broadcasting in the country on Thursday. The ban followed remarks deemed to undermine the dignity of President Mamady Doumbouya. The HAC had issued a formal warning to France 24 on Wednesday for using an inappropriate term to refer to the head of state. During a September 14 broadcast, a presenter described Doumbouya as a "putschist president." France 24 told AFP it intended to apologise and correct any offense, and a statement now reads that Doumbouya was "mistakenly labelled a putschist president."
