Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has stated that he will not act as a political godfather or impose a successor when his second tenure ends in 2031. He made the remarks in Umuahia on Thursday while receiving former Social Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate Mrs Ngozi Johnson-Chukwunenye and her supporters into the Labour Party. Otti said leadership succession should be based on identifying the most suitable person for the job rather than perpetuating a sit-tight culture. He added that the person who succeeds him would be better equipped to provide quality leadership to the people.
