Constituency Seat Dispute: Court Orders INEC To Recognise Anambra Lawmaker As APGA Candidate

A Federal High Court in Akwa, Anambra State, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Hon Innocent Ojike as the duly elected candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Oyi State Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. Justice Evelyn Anyadike also directed APGA to submit Ojike's name to INEC as the party's lawful candidate. The court agreed with the plaintiff's counsel, Reuben Atabo, SAN, that the party erred in declaring Kosisochukwu Ibemesi as the winner after Ojike was pronounced the winner by the returning officer of the primary election. Ojike, who currently represents Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, had filed the suit to challenge the outcome of the party's primary election.
