A mining pit collapsed on illegal miners in Mayo Kam community, Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, on Thursday afternoon, leaving more than 20 people, including women and children, feared dead. The miners were reportedly working inside the pit when it suddenly caved in, triggering panic and plunging the community into mourning. Although the casualty figure had yet to be officially confirmed, residents said more than 20 miners were believed to have been trapped beneath the earth. A resident, Kenneth Ayila, confirmed the incident, while community leader Mallam Usman Bello said the scale of the tragedy had left residents in shock.
