Dr Kweku Adedayo Tandoh, Chief Operating Officer of the Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), spoke at a sport tourism session at Akwaaba 2026. He urged African governments to focus on the legacy of hosting sporting events rather than just the ability to host. Tandoh cited AFCON 2023, which attracted 1.2 million fans and generated $1.5 billion in value, with 97 percent of attendees expressing intent to return. He emphasised the potential to convert football fans into lifelong tourists.
