The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has refuted a report in THISDAY Newspaper dated September 11, 2026, which alleged that it wasted N7.58 billion on Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) for Lagos and Abuja airports. NAMA stated that the approved contract for the supply and installation of CAT III-capable ILS and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) was N1,188,139,913.90, not N7.58 billion. The contract was awarded to Alolis Geo-Science Nigeria Limited, representing Leonardo SPA, with approvals from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Federal Executive Council (FEC). NAMA noted that the N7.58 billion figure originated from a 2019 newspaper estimate assuming approximately $3 million per runway.
