Passengers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos continue to face high and arbitrary charges for car hire services, as the organized system instituted by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is yet to work effectively. Earlier in the year, FAAN introduced the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS), a digital platform intended to organize airport taxi operations, reduce terminal congestion, and improve passenger safety. The system is designed to track and manage ground transportation at major Nigerian airports like Lagos and Abuja, maintain a central digital list of approved drivers and vehicles, and set specific pick-up zones and parking bays. However, the challenges persist.
