The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted 573 Nigeria Police Force crests, 92 yards of police camouflage uniform fabric, a pistol, six pistol magazines, a pump-action magazine, and 60 detonating cords during anti-smuggling operations in August 2026. The acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Adewole, disclosed this in Ibadan while briefing journalists on the command's revenue performance and anti-smuggling activities. He described the interception of police-related materials as particularly concerning due to the potential security implications of unauthorised possession and movement of security agency uniforms and insignia. Adewole noted that such materials could be exploited by criminal elements to impersonate law enforcement personnel and gain unauthorised access to restricted locations.
