Ben Ellencweig, who leads McKinsey's AI arm QuantumBlack, said the firm's recruiting has changed dramatically in recent years and now draws from places it had not recruited before. He said many colleagues come from non-MBA backgrounds, including technology, as AI reshapes the work consulting firms do for clients. The shift reflects growing demand for people who can build technology as well as devise corporate strategy around it. McKinsey is not alone in widening its talent base, with EY also having expanded beyond accountants.
