Uber employees say AI is doing everything from writing support chat responses to answering questions in Slack

Six recently laid-off Uber employees told Business Insider that AI had become more prevalent in their jobs over the past few months, with some prompting AI to handle substantial portions of their work. They said AI tools were used to respond to customer service messages and to answer questions posted in Slack. Some of the employees felt AI was one reason behind the company's layoffs earlier this month, which affected about 3,300 people, including all those interviewed. Uber said the layoffs were about reducing management layers and did not mention AI.
