The Federal Government has ordered an investigation into the deaths of miners in Niger State and suspended the Niger State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The deceased suspects were among those arrested during enforcement operations against illegal mining on September 15 and 16, 2026. The suspension and probe follow the fatalities.
