The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Owerri Zone has raised concerns over the worsening condition of Imo State University, Owerri, and urged the state government to intervene urgently. In a statement signed by zonal coordinator Dennis Aribodor, the union called for the implementation of the 2025 federal government-ASUU agreement and appealed to Governor Hope Uzodimma to convene a roundtable with management, the Governing Council, and ASUU. ASUU also alleged that casual staff receive about N50,000 monthly, contributing to sharp practices within the institution.
