The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Abuja to institutionalise coordination between fiscal and monetary authorities. The agreement aims to strengthen policy coordination, improve information and data sharing, and promote greater coherence in managing the Nigerian economy. At the signing ceremony, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Taiwo Oyedele stated that the MoU would enhance coordination without compromising the independence of the CBN. He emphasised that while fiscal and monetary authorities have distinct mandates, their outcomes are interconnected, and the MoU institutionalises cooperation.
