President Dr Patrick Herminie, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces, has ordered the establishment of an Independent Commission of Inquiry to investigate an incident at sea involving three officers of the Seychelles Coast Guard. One officer has been rescued while two remain missing. The Commission will conduct a thorough, independent and impartial investigation into the cause of the incident, including the circumstances leading up to it, the conduct of the operation, and the adequacy of safety protocols. It will also make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
