The Nasarawa State Government has launched a manhunt for illegal miners and mining companies that recruit minors and underage workers without regard for industrial safety and welfare. Commissioner for Environment, Mining and Natural Resources, Margaret Elayo, announced this while reacting to the death of young miners in the custody of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State. She said the manhunt became necessary after receiving videos from the ministry's permanent secretary showing underage persons undertaking mining activities in Wamba LGA of Nasarawa State.
