The US Army doesn't want its soldiers trying to figure out new tech right before heading into combat training

The US Army has issued new guidance requiring that soldiers receive unfamiliar technology, including drones, well before major combat training. A 180-day requirement is intended to give troops time to master new systems before using them in warfighting exercises. Army leaders said giving soldiers new technology too late in the training cycle distracts them from training for war. Officials have said soldier feedback on system performance is the most important factor in determining whether a drone will be useful.
