Liberia's Ministry of Education has launched the National Accelerated Adult Literacy Program (NAALP) to expand learning opportunities for adults who missed formal education. The program combines literacy and numeracy with practical learning in livelihoods, financial literacy, health, life skills, and civic participation. The first phase will focus on six counties: Grand Cape Mount, Bong, Grand Bassa, Gbarpolu, Lofa, and Rivercess, with the goal of increasing adult literacy from 58.6 percent to at least 62.8 percent by 2029.
