The Federal Government has suspended the Niger State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, and ordered a full investigation into the deaths of persons arrested during enforcement operations against suspected illegal mining activities in Niger State. Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris assured that a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation will be conducted. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, ordered the suspension and investigation.
