A shooting at Banga National High School in South Cotabato province, southern Philippines, on Friday resulted in at least three deaths, including the suspected gunman, and several injuries. The Philippine National Police confirmed the fatalities and said the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time in Banga town, Mindanao. South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo identified two of the deceased as a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, both students, while the third was the suspected gunman. Banga town Mayor Albert Palencia told Reuters that eight people were injured, four critically, and police have stated that the motive is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
