NAFDAC Confirms Methanol In Concoctions Linked To 48 Deaths In Ondo

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confirmed high concentrations of methanol in locally prepared alcoholic and herbal concoctions linked to the deaths of 48 persons in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. According to NAFDAC's Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, 182 cases have been recorded, with 90 discharged, six hospitalized, and 31 treated as outpatients. Five persons became totally blind and two partially blind, with symptoms including headache, weakness, visual disturbances, and difficulty breathing.
