The Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz, has called on the government and stakeholders to prioritise nomadic education to ensure children in nomadic communities have access to quality basic education. He made the call at the launch of the 2026/2027 state-wide enrolment drive campaign in Karaye Emirate, organised by the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission. The emir stressed the need for learning opportunities that accommodate the lifestyle and mobility of nomadic communities. He also urged government agencies to collaborate with traditional institutions, NGOs, development partners, and community leaders to identify and provide learning opportunities for children in nomadic settlements.
