The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced it will enforce the 'drill-or-drop' provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, giving holders of non-performing licences six weeks to regularise the status of their operations. The directive targets winners of the 2020 marginal field bid round, the 2022/2023 mini bid round and the 2024 licensing round, who must meet statutory work commitments or risk losing their licences. A statement by NUPRC spokesman Eniola Akinkuotu said the notice was contained in a circular signed by Commission Chief Executive Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and addressed to holders of Petroleum Prospecting Licences. The circular carries reference number NUPRC/1127/VOL.13.
