The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has called on government at all levels to tackle insecurity and ease the financial burden on poor Nigerians. In a communique issued at the closing Mass of their 2026 2nd Plenary Meeting in Osogbo, Osun State, the bishops lamented that worsening killings and attacks are slowing down lives and the nation's economy. The communique was signed by CBCN President Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso and Secretary Most Rev. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo. The bishops also identified poverty and poor infrastructure as factors hindering economic growth.
