Recent findings by NAFDAC and SON reveal a surge in dangerous counterfeit products in Nigerian markets. These include fake Oral-B toothpaste potentially containing toxic diethylene glycol, counterfeit Hollandia yoghurt made under unsanitary conditions, and refilled 19-litre water bottles with untreated water sold under original brand names. Additionally, fake antimalarials, antibiotics, codeine-laced cough syrups, and hormonal drugs are circulating through regional trade routes. The scale of counterfeiting has raised serious public health concerns.
