Building collapses continue across Nigeria despite repeated warnings and regulatory guidelines, prompting reactions from professionals. Engr Bashir Lawal, chairman of COREN's Technical Committee in Kwara State, attributed the incidents to inadequate structural integrity auditing, especially of old buildings. He called for periodic audits nationwide and recalled a recent two-storey building collapse in Ilorin that killed five family members. Lawal urged the state government to conduct a general structural integrity audit of all buildings in Kwara State.
