The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has revealed that over 17,000 people displaced by Boko Haram activities in North-East Nigeria are still missing. ICRC spokesperson Aliyu Dawobe disclosed this in Lagos at the end of a two-day training for journalists on humanitarian reporting. Dawobe said the figure was initially over 24,000 but was reduced because the ICRC lost contact with some affected families. He explained that the ICRC is making efforts to trace the missing persons and reunite them with their families, noting that the crisis has been ongoing for over 16 years, with millions in need of food and over three million children malnourished.
