The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Polycarp Emeka, announced the arrest of three police officers attached to the S-Squad of the Abia State Police Command. The officers, including an Inspector, a Sergeant, and a Corporal, were arrested over alleged extortion, abuse of police powers, and other misconduct that reportedly affected more than 200 people. The AIG stated that seven officers are under investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend others involved. The alleged activities took place across about nine Local Government Areas in Abia State, including Aba, Obingwa, Ukwa East, and Ukwa West, and had continued for over a year before complaints led to police action.
