The Kwararafa Development Forum has called on the federal government to intensify efforts to secure the region, improve critical infrastructure, and unlock its vast agricultural and mineral resources. Speaking ahead of a gathering of Kwararafa sons and daughters in Abuja, the chairman of the forum's media and publicity committee, Prof Yakubu Ochefu, identified insecurity as the most pressing challenge confronting communities across the region. Ochefu said the security situation had continued to undermine economic activities and development in parts of Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Niger, and Taraba states. He noted that the region is Nigeria's food basket and possesses significant solid mineral deposits, but is hindered by insecurity.
