Group Advocates Broader Purposeful Action To Convert Africa’s Hydrocarbon Resources Into Investment

The Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) has stated that Africa's vast hydrocarbon reserves can transform the continent's economy and provide greater prosperity for its people. The group urged energy operators, investors, governments, and regulators to build the conviction and coalition needed to convert these resources into investment, jobs, development, and dignity for host communities. Speaking at the opening of Africa Oil Week 2026 in Accra, Ghana, IPPG Chairman Adegbite Falade said Africa stands at a defining moment. He noted that close to 600 million Africans lack access to electricity and nearly one billion rely on wood and charcoal for cooking.
