President Bola Tinubu has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its role in Nigeria's victory at an arbitration tribunal. The case involves the alleged $6 billion Mambilla power contract awarded to Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited. According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the International Arbitration Tribunal under the International Criminal Court in Paris ruled in favour of Nigeria on September 17, rejecting $680 million in damages demanded by Sunrise Power. The company is also claiming over $2.7 billion in compensation and interest in another arbitration related to the 3,960 MW Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project in Taraba.
