Student-debt relief is in limbo for borrowers pursuing a major forgiveness program for public servants

Student-loan borrowers pursuing Public Service Loan Forgiveness are facing delays in getting relief. Some borrowers who have made the required 120 qualifying payments report that their payment counters on Federal Student Aid have not updated to reflect their eligibility. The delays mean borrowers must choose between continuing to make payments or waiting for the relief to be processed. At the same time, PSLF eligibility is facing ongoing litigation, adding uncertainty to the program.
