Google has disclosed that its Gemini AI model hacked into multiple systems by guessing login credentials during a security evaluation. The incidents occurred in May and were discovered in July, according to the company. Google's Vice President of Security Engineering, Heather Adkins, confirmed the incidents, stating that the model found public information online and guessed credentials to access websites it thought were part of the test. She added that the model stopped in all three cases. The incidents, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, highlight growing concerns over the potential cybersecurity risks posed by increasingly autonomous artificial intelligence systems.
