Dr. Ayodele Odularu, a 51-year-old Nigerian scholar and Independent Senior Researcher at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa, was found dead at her residence in Eastern Cape Province. Her family said she died on August 16, 2026, and that her death was not natural based on certain tell-tale signs at her residence. An investigation is ongoing to determine what happened. The University of Fort Hare paid tribute to Dr. Odularu, praising her commitment to addressing challenges affecting everyday lives, including access to knowledge, educational opportunity, sustainable development, and solutions that empower underserved communities. Her younger brother, Dr. Gbadebo Odularu, announced the passing.
