The Plateau State Government has suspended the operations of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) effective Monday, September 21, following violent attacks and altercations involving VIO personnel and transport operators in Jos. The suspension was announced by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Gyang Jatau, after an emergency meeting with transport union leaders and other stakeholders. The meeting condemned the attacks on VIO personnel and aimed to review and restructure VIO operations to prevent further confrontations.
