The Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency (NiHSA) has forecast a seven-day high flood that will hit Imo, Cross River, Lagos, and 12 other states. The Director General, Arch Umar Mohammed, said the flood is expected from September 19 to 25, 2026. Schools, healthcare facilities, markets, farms, and religious buildings are among the places that will be affected. He called on affected state governments to urgently move people to safer, higher ground.
