A new State Commandant, AS Kabara, has been redeployed to Niger State following the deaths of 37 suspects in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). He assumed duty, taking over from Commandant Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, who was among officers taken to Abuja for questioning. At least 20 officials have been arrested in connection with the incident. The commandant expressed sadness over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
