The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is expanding its cooperation with the Nigerian government to develop a framework for reducing methane emissions in agriculture. UNEP's International Methane Emissions Observatory will host a two-day webinar series to enhance Nigeria's capacity to measure, quantify, and manage methane emissions in the sector. The webinars are part of the Nigeria Methane Emission Reduction Pilot Programme (NiMERP), funded by the EU Delegation to Nigeria and implemented by IMEO in collaboration with the Nigerian government. NiMERP aims to assess methane emissions across multiple sectors and build local capacity for measurement and mitigation, following previous training in the oil and gas and waste sectors.
