President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that Nigerians are already experiencing measurable reductions in transportation costs, providing an update on the promise to deliver cheaper transportation from October 1, 2026. On August 27, Tinubu met with governors to discuss steps to reduce transportation costs nationwide and cushion the effects of harsh economic conditions. Following the meeting, an implementation committee for the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme was established under the Nigeria Governors' Forum. Tinubu noted that considerable work is already underway by the committee, PI-CNG & EV, the states, and other stakeholders to identify priority transport corridors and determine appropriate interventions.
