Former Director-General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Maj.-Gen. Nnaemeka Charles Maduegbunam (rtd.), has stated that Nigeria can overcome its military hardware challenges by utilizing local engineers, technicians, and resources. He emphasized the need to prioritize indigenous technology and local expertise to achieve self-reliance in defence production and reduce costs. Maduegbunam spoke at the public presentation of his book, 'We Can Do It – Towards Nigeria’s Self-Reliance in Science and Technology,' in Abuja. He also urged Nigeria to discard the misconception that technology can be transferred from foreign partners without substantial investment in local capacity.
