Kano-based TikTok user Khadija Muhammad, known as 'Yar Lele', has been remanded in a correctional facility after being arraigned over an alleged defamatory and insulting statement. She was brought before the Upper Sharia Court in Kano Municipal, where police filed charges. The prosecution alleged that Khadija referred to politician MD Hassan using a derogatory expression in a video she posted online. Khadija denied the allegations. The prosecutor requested more time to present witnesses, and the court, presided over by Justice Garba Malafa, ordered her remand.
