Isma'il Ishaq Magaji, a 400-level student at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, was killed by a stray bullet during a land dispute in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Sulaiman, expressed condolences and described the incident as a painful loss. The university appealed to the communities involved in the dispute to embrace dialogue.
