Tinubu Forecloses Return to Fuel Subsidy Regime, Asks States to Deliver Cheaper Transport By October 1

President Bola Tinubu has ruled out a return to the petrol subsidy regime and directed state governments to accelerate the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric mass transit systems to deliver measurable reductions in transportation fares from October 1. He said more than 120,000 vehicles have been converted to CNG, with over 400 certified conversion centres and more than 90 CNG refuelling stations now operating across the country. Tinubu urged more governors to accelerate the rollout as seven states and Abuja cut fares.
