Miners’ Death: Detained NSCDC Officers To Know Fate In 14 Days – Tunji-Ojo

The Federal Government has stated that the suspended and detained Niger State commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, and 20 other officers under investigation for the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in custody will learn their fate after an independent investigation concludes in 14 days. A 10-member independent committee, chaired by retired Deputy Director-General of the Department of State Services Jonathan Kure, has been given two weeks to complete its assignment and submit findings to the Minister of Interior. The affected officers involved in arrest, investigation, legal, and custodial duties related to the victims are to remain suspended pending the investigation's outcome.
