The passage from Mark 10:1-19, Matthew 19:16, and Luke 18:18, 20-23, 26-27 emphasizes that it is the Redeemer, not riches, that provides what is needed for eternal life. It cites Jesus' statement that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. The text urges those seeking the Lord and eternal satisfaction to forsake all endangering substances. It also references Isaiah 29:8, 28:20, and Luke 12:16-26 to illustrate that earthly and mundane things are empty supplies that cannot satisfy the eternal soul.
