Nansi Lynch, 60, took out federal parent PLUS loans to fund her children's college education and now owes $156,000. The loans carry a 9.07% interest rate, the highest among federal student loans. Under her income-driven repayment plan, her monthly payments were $238, but she worries they will increase when her forbearance ends. The Trump administration recently imposed a $65,000 lifetime borrowing cap per dependent for new parent PLUS loans.
