The Chicago Athletic Association is a hotel that was once an ultra-exclusive gentlemen's club. Business Insider's reporter booked a stay and felt transported to the Gilded Age. The 19th-century private club turned hotel reopened in 2015 after a lengthy transformation project. Parts of the hotel appeared frozen in time, while others breathed new life into its history. The reporter spent one night there in February for $250 and found it extremely luxurious.
