CONUA: University accreditation must reflect actual capacity

The Congress of University Academics has backed the Federal Government's policy emphasising probity and integrity in the accreditation of university courses. In a statement by National President Dr Niyi Sunmonu, the union said the practice of borrowing lecturers, equipment and other facilities to secure accreditation should be completely stopped. CONUA stated that accreditation should reflect an institution's actual, sustainable and verifiable capacity to deliver the programmes it offers. It also called on government to clearly define sanctions applicable to institutions that misrepresent their capacity.
