Reasons Why Obi-Kwankwaso Campaign Structure Puts NDC At Odds

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has disassociated itself from a 59-member campaign team set up by its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, for the 2027 presidential election. NDC National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas said in a statement on Saturday night that the party was not associated with the campaign group, which has John Ugulu as Director-General. The OK Movement believes it can operate a parallel presidential campaign structure, while the NDC leadership says this amounts to running as independent candidates. The NDC insists all candidates are products of the party and remain subject to its authority and discipline, while the OK Movement argues its campaign structure is complementary and enjoys organic grassroots support.
